Pork Belly Bistek


The Lowdown: 

Introducing our twist on a classic Filipino favorite: Pork Belly Bistek! 🇵🇭✨

Bistek Tagalog is a beloved Filipino dish traditionally made with strips of beef sirloin or tenderloin, marinated and braised in a flavorful mix of soy sauce, calamansi juice, garlic, and spices. We're switching it up with succulent pork belly for an extra caramelized, melt-in-your-mouth experience 🍋🧅

Perfectly paired with rice, it's a savory, tangy and umami packed all in one ! ✌🏻


  • ½ cup Datu Puti soy sauce
  • 1 ½ tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • ½ onion, sliced
  • ½ onion, diced
  • 4 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 kg pork belly, sliced into strips
  • 1 pinch of salt to taste
  • ½ tsp Maggi Magic Sarap
  • ¾ cup water



1. Sauté garlic and dice onion:

  • Heat a pan over medium heat.
  • Add the minced garlic and diced onion.
  • Sauté until the garlic is fragrant and the onion is soft and translucent.

2. Cook the pork belly:

  • Add the sliced pork belly to the pan along with 1 ½ tbsp oyster sauce.
  • Cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pork belly is lightly browned.

3. Add seasonings and simmer:

  • Pour in ½ cup Datu Puti soy sauce, sliced onion, 1 tbsp sugar, ½ tsp Maggi Magic Sarap, and ¾ cup of water.
  • Let it simmer for another 5-10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

4. Add lemon:

  • Stir in 1 tbsp of lemon juice for a zesty finish.

5. Serve and enjoy:

  • Serve your Pork Belly Bistek hot over a bed of rice or with your favorite side dish.
  • Enjoy the savory, umami-rich flavors in every bite!
