Introducing our twist on a classic Filipino favorite: Pork Belly Bistek! 🇵🇭✨
Bistek Tagalog is a beloved Filipino dish traditionally made with strips of beef sirloin or tenderloin, marinated and braised in a flavorful mix of soy sauce, calamansi juice, garlic, and spices. We're switching it up with succulent pork belly for an extra caramelized, melt-in-your-mouth experience 🍋🧅
Perfectly paired with rice, it's a savory, tangy and umami packed all in one ! ✌🏻
Ingredients
- ½ cup Datu Puti soy sauce
- 1 ½ tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp sugar
- ½ onion, sliced
- ½ onion, diced
- 4 cloves minced garlic
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 kg pork belly, sliced into strips
- 1 pinch of salt to taste
- ½ tsp Maggi Magic Sarap
- ¾ cup water

1. Sauté garlic and dice onion:
- Heat a pan over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and diced onion.
- Sauté until the garlic is fragrant and the onion is soft and translucent.
2. Cook the pork belly:
- Add the sliced pork belly to the pan along with 1 ½ tbsp oyster sauce.
- Cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pork belly is lightly browned.
3. Add seasonings and simmer:
- Pour in ½ cup Datu Puti soy sauce, sliced onion, 1 tbsp sugar, ½ tsp Maggi Magic Sarap, and ¾ cup of water.
- Let it simmer for another 5-10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
4. Add lemon:
- Stir in 1 tbsp of lemon juice for a zesty finish.
5. Serve and enjoy:
- Serve your Pork Belly Bistek hot over a bed of rice or with your favorite side dish.
